Remote Monitoring for Facilities Management

Remote Monitoring for
facilities managers

Powerful aggregation and presentation of data from multiple sites

Whether its asset monitoring, public health or PFI, we can quickly and easily
provide a ROI by making your buildings “Smart”, and your workforce more efficient!

Remote Monitoring for Facilities Management, Site Management & Building Automation Systems

We put together all the elements of remote monitoring systems to give you quick to implement systems that are quick to pay for themselves.

Our Wireless sensor networks will work with your existing BMS [Building Management System] or if there isn’t a BMS they can create a quick, light touch BMS. You can easily & quickly add in a wide variety of sensor inputs and monitor data… energy, temperature and humidity, CO2, Lux , machine data, water quality.

So whether it is energy management, or environmental conditions, public health issues, data centre monitoring, or PFI compliance, you can turn any building into a smart building!

Our system hardware is robust, “light touch” and autonomous, so installation is simple. In a matter of minutes you will have data going seamlessly and securely to the cloud and to your own dedicated SmartHub where you can manage your asset portfolio, react to events, increase your effectiveness and efficiency, get your staff to set thresholds and react to alerts by email or SMS to unlimited recipients.

Facilities Management Options

You can see all of your data from the SmartHub via superb dashboards. Starting with the maps showing geo-location status markers of your assets and 3d virtual buildings, and other tools instantly alerting you to issues, they allow drill down to data. Making your buildings and assets truly “smart”.

How Do We Achieve this Alternative Building Management System (or BMS)?

1. Data Acquisition

SmartHub Dashboards
CDL’s battery wireless sensors from the RDL//1000 family monitor data over a wide area [up to 1km diameter circle] for energy [including sub metering], temperature & humidity, CO2, and any analogue or digital input from commercial sensors/instruments. They are simple to install, discreet, and have battery life of many years.

CDL’s world beating Universal RTU the NanoULTRA offers universal connectivity with every permutation covered [4 x analogue, 4 x digital i/o’s, serial, on board CANbus and GPS] and the lowest power consumption of any GSM based Remote Telemetry Unit. So whether it is plant and machinery data, specialist instrumentation or standard sensors in difficult locations… or any combination of those… we can connect you. “From any thing to the CDL SMartHub”

2. Wireless Remote Communication to the Cloud

We will work with you to decide which of the following are most appropriate to your facilities Management situation or application:

GSM [SIM card]– is still by far the most popular for connecting your smart buildings, energy and asset management systems to the cloud. Why? Its near universal, robust, autonomous, secure & cost effective.

Wifi – is available but in many B2B situations it creates as many problems as it solves, with issues around, administration, wifi up time, problems of responsibility [whose routers, passwords, who resets, etc], as well as security issues.

Whitespace – This system works well in centres of population and for low volumes of data and high volumes of installations, and is low cost and robust.

3. CDL SmartHub - Your Online Data Analysis Portal

Whatever the data source – an existing BMS system, a wireless network measuring Room Temperature & Humidity together with energy and CO2 [say], plant and machinery data, or all of these. And whether it’s a single site or multiple sites, in a single country or multiple locations, the SmartHub is where you manage you assets, organise your operations, monitor your compliance, automate alerts where conditions are breached, visualise both your operational and financial performance and your return on investment.

Nano ULTRA-III Range

Managing a network of field assets has never been easier with the NanoULTRA – III cellular gateway range. The range provides onboard I/O's, modular I/O expansion, and powerful, user-friendly Modbus communications. The high-resolution data transfer happens seamlessly and securely from multiple assets to our secure cloud platform, the CDLSmartHub™, where the raw data can be turned into actionable insights.

Data is not information and information is not knowledge. Getting data to the cloud safely, with integrity checks, getting configuration instructions back to the sensors (e.g. sampling and reporting frequencies) is just the start. Turning that data into useful information for you is the next step – things like dynamic charting, customisable hierarchies, user defined alarm functions, geo-mapping, intuitive work methods.

Remote Monitoring at Westminster Hall

The oldest building in the parliamentary estate, Westminster Hall, is now equipped with state-of-the-art environmental monitoring equipment by Caption Data.

Westminster Hall is home to the largest medieval timber roof in Northern Europe. Measuring 21m by 73m (68ft by 240ft) and some 30m tall, the roof was commissioned in 1393 by Richard II, and is still standing.

Californian Skyscraper goes smart

So says Naomi Climer in her interview for the BBC’s LIfe Scientific on 16th February 2016. She is the President of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and talks refreshingly about the “How cool is this?” aspect of The Internet of Things. She also says that Engineer’s shape society and “should be treated like rock stars”
